Your Job

Flint Hills Resources (FHR) is looking for a Data Architect to join our Enterprise Data Enablement team. This role can either sit at our headquarters in Wichita, KS or is open to remote. This role will be a member of a team working to enable a data centric approach for the organization, standardizing data across FHR for re-usability. A Data Architect will help drive best practices for storing, modeling, managing, and interacting with data. You must realize and show the ability to understand the business direction, objectives, and parties involved to get to the best outcome. A candidate who is a self-starter and looks to be proactive will be a great fit for this opportunity.


What You Will Do

  • Proactive partnership with FHR business, IT leaders and Solution Architecture
  • Utilize economic thinking and understand appropriate risk when evaluating work
  • Knowing which items can bring value across multiple business segments for greatest value add
  • Embedded in our highest value projects to understand business needs, provide data modeling, focusing on re-useable data strategies that align with FHR''s vision
  • Grow, through influence, a data enablement mindset across the organization and mentor others on how to think about data needs
  • Understand and architect data solutions for the business, leveraging the tools that have been built for our internal data platform where possible and helping drive requirement for platform enhancements
  • Help evaluate and tune queries


Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • 5+ years of experience in IT
  • 3+ years of experience with query languages, data modeling, data ownership, and data platforms
  • Aptitude for deep data analysis and exploration


What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience with data virtualization technologies (Denodo, etc.)
  • Experience with data visualization tools (PowerBI, Tableau, etc.)
  • Experience with Scrum/Agile delivery processes
  • Experience with data storage technologies and query languages (Neo4j, Redshift, S3, Hadoop, etc.)
  • Experience with cloud Platforms (AWS, Azure, Google)


This role is not eligible for VISA sponsorship

For this role, we anticipate paying $90,000 - $150,000 per year. This role may be eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
