What You'll Do

  • Lead static and kinematic studies to simulate assembly and equipment interactions
  • Drive content reduction, assembly simplification, and build-in-quality
  • Collaborate with supply management, product design, industrial design groups on material selection, design feasibility and aesthetics of new plastic part & tooling designs.
  • Develop and maintain a DFM system producing high-quality and cost-effective electronic products
  • Collaborate with design, engineering, and commercial teams to develop the best design solutions, materials and technologies.
  • Characterize and validate new equipment and fixtures on pilot lines
  • Perform process analysis, DOE, PFMEA, line balancing activities, and capacity modeling/simulation
  • Serve as the voice of the supplier to internal engineering teams for EVT, DVT, and PVT build phases
  • Characterize and validate new equipment and fixtures on pilot lines
  • Lead development of new manufacturing processes

Minimal Qualifications:

  • BS Degree in Electrical / Mechanical / Industrial / Manufacturing Engineering or evidence of experience and exceptional ability, MSc. Mechanical/Electrical engineering is a plus.
  • 7+ years of experience as a Manufacturing/Mechanical/Automation Engineer
  • Understanding of Design for Manufacturability principles.
  • 3+ years of experience performing DFM/DFA/DFT
  • In-depth knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and inspections, Expertise in tolerance/stack-up analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of industry standards (e.g., IPC, JEDEC, AEC-Q) and design rules for PCB manufacturing processes SMT, THT, reflow conformal coating, underfill, washing, press fit, pen stitch.
  • Experience introducing new products and new processes from a prototype environment to a production environment
  • Experienced with SOLIDWORKS, and other similar software/tools
  • Experience designing production line layouts in AutoCAD
  • Proven results in meeting customer requirements and expectations
  • Good understanding of BOMs, manufacturability, process design, process validation, assembly methods, design reviews and cost reduction methodologies
  • Ability to travel internationally to engage with manufacturing partners.
  • Travel required ~ 25%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years experience performing DFM/DFA/DFT for PCB, PCBA,
  • 3+ years of work experience performing DFM/DFA for Injection Molding, and Plastics Surface Finish
  • Experience managing Custom Connector Systems, Wiring harness, Power distribution commodities
  • Experience deploying DFM software applications for PCB, PCBA or other mechanical assemblies.
  • Deep knowledge of thermoplastic molding , and the properties of plastics
  • Understanding of properties of various mold-making materials and tool component fabrication techniques.
  • Proficiency designing mechanical equipment, fixturing and tooling in CAD (SolidWorks preferred, Catia is a plus)
  • Experience creating technical specifications for manufacturing equipment
