Summary:

The EHS Training Specialist is responsible for assisting with the development and implementation of EHS training programs in support of PENA's battery production. The EHS Training Specialist works directly with production managers, supervisors, safety champions, and other support teams to design, create and implement training.

Essential Duties:

  • Promote a culture of safety, quality compliance, and continuous improvement throughout PENA
  • Evaluate training needs and requirements and create a project management process
  • Stay abreast of process and policy changes that effect PENA employees and customers
  • Implement learning programs, facilitate training sessions for new and existing employees
  • Create and deliver hands-on, instructor-led, and virtual training sessions for groups of various sizes and backgrounds, focused on EHS impact
  • Review and audit training content; Oversee re-training and re-certification process
  • Understand the working ins-and-out of Learning Management System (LMS) and demonstrated the ability to create training content and deliver to employees
  • Responsible for finding exciting and creative ways to deliver training
  • Meet regularly with trainers from other departments to share best practices and ensure alignment among various training teams
  • Collaborate with business leaders on individual team capability and skill development needs
  • Partner with cross-functional business partners across various departments including Recruiting, Talent Development, Productions, Information Systems, etc.
  • Interact and support with personnel at all organizational levels, both internal and external to the company. Work effectively and efficiently in both team-based and independent working environments to add value to the organization
  • Assist in the development of safety campaigns, slogans, best practices, etc.
  • Implement various Behavior Based Safety Programs to promote proactive solutions and culture change
  • Prepare reports and summaries for EHS management
  • Complete administrative duties to track learner enrollments, attendance, and course completion
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by EHS leaders/management

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:

  • To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees, wearing PPE is a requirement for some roles at PENA and may include equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, bump cap, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator.

Qualifications: Requirements - Required and/or Preferred

Education:

  • Basic/Required: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • Preferred: Experience in EHS and/or education related to instructional design

Essential Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in EHS and/or training field
  • Experience with Environmental, Health and Safety regulations and guidelines, including OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, ISO, and EPA
  • Experienced with course creation tools (ex: Articulate, Adobe Captivate, Lectora, etc)
  • Skills in MS Office (Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook)
  • Up to date on technological trends and willing to learn them, when applicable
  • Self-starter, with general instructions. Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and create training content
  • Creative, design oriented, up to date with latest technologies and learning styles
  • Experience with Behavior Based Safety Programs, creating and implementing
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work in an extremely fast-paced and changing environment
  • Results orientated with the ability to plan and deliver against production goals
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to give formal presentations to small groups and communicate successfully with all levels of employees and management
  • Resilient, self-motived and able to work well under pressure
  • Comfortable communicating/troubleshooting with all levels of the organization
  • Able to work flexible hours/shifts to meet the needs of the business
  • Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English. Knowledge of Spanish and/or Tagalog would be a plus
