Responsibilities

Willow Springs Center has an opening for a Full Time Teacher.

The purpose of this position is to develop and deliver educational opportunities for children who are patients at Willow Springs Center. They will be called upon to liaise with other educators, families, guardians and providers to develop an educational plan that supports the overall treatment plan.


Job Duties and Responsibilities:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Selects materials and resources that support instructional goals and engage students in meaningful learning.

Demonstrates awareness of clinical goals and objectives and complies with the clinical directives.
Uses specific knowledge of student medical conditions and medications and their possible effects on student learning and behavior.
Plans and organizes reading instruction based on ongoing assessment.
Supports reading through oral and written language development.
Understands the cognitive processes associated with various kinds of learning (e.g. critical and creative thinking, problem structuring, problem solving, invention, memorization and recall) and ensures attention to these learning processes so that students can master content standards.
Selects instructional goals, which are worthwhile and are appropriate for the student's age and developmental levels and skills and background.
Provides effective verbal and written feedback that shape improvement in student performance on content standards.
Ensures children are able to demonstrate educational growth through the achievement of measureable standards.
Accurately documents and reports ongoing student achievement.
Documents patient progress in the medical record according to department policies and procedures.
Utilizes technology to manage and communicate information.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree from an institution accredited by a regional accrediting association that is approved by the United States Department of Education. Master's degree preferred.

Completion of Praxis I required. Completion of Praxis II preferred.

Experience: Experience teaching emotionally handicapped and learning disabled adolescents is preferred. Three (3)years of verified full time or supervised experience in teaching the appropriate grade level.

Licensure: Valid Nevada State 7-12 Teaching License. Teachers are required to be eligible for "highly qualified" status. Substitute teaching licenses do not qualify for this position. Must be a "generalist" license - may not be specified in subjects such as PE, or Art.

Certifications: CPR/First Aid and Handle with Care.
